New investigational treatments should be explored before starting standard therapy, particularly monoclonal antibodies and gene insertion therapy. The results with currently used standard cytotoxic agents—vinblastine and a nitrosourea such as lomustine or carmustine—as well as currently used immunological agents (interferon) are very limited.
